How do I convert text to binary?

What does binary code look like?

Binary code for text is a sequence of 0s and 1s, usually grouped in 8-bit bytes per character. For example, the letter A is 01000001. Our tool formats output with optional spaces or commas so long strings stay readable.

Why do computers use binary?

Digital hardware represents signals as on (1) or off (0). Binary matches transistors and logic gates reliably. All higher-level data — text, images, programs — is stored and processed as binary patterns at the lowest level.
