File compressor: documents, with each folder path kept
Shrink PDF, Office, OpenDocument, and text files. A folder upload keeps each file’s path and its type.
Key Features
- PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, ODT, ODS, ODP, TXT, CSV, JSON, RTF, and Markdown
- Embedded-image fidelity 60–100, step 5, default 85
- A PDF only recompresses JPEG images inside it
- Folder uploads keep the relative path and the original extension
Common Use Cases
- Reduce a folder of reports without renaming or flattening it
- Recompress JPEG images inside a PDF or an Office file
Benefits
- If a file does not get smaller, the original is stored at the same path
- Images that are not documents are skipped
The path of every file stays
The ZIP entry is the path from the folder you chose. reports/2024/notes.pdf stays reports/2024/notes.pdf under compressed_files. The extension does not change. The download name is compressed_files.zip.
What gets smaller
A PDF only recompresses JPEG images inside it. Office and OpenDocument files recompress embedded JPEG and PNG images and leave the text in place. Text, CSV, JSON, RTF, and Markdown are tightened only when the result is smaller. Otherwise the original file is kept.
